"Touch-me-not," also known as "Mimosa pudica," Kanokwan’s exploration of the Mimosa plant, known for its unique response to touch. The focus is on revealing the brief moments of movement when the plant’s leaves react to stimuli.
Mimosa pudica was introduced to Thailand as a ground cover plant but has become an invasive weed. Despite this, it has its own beauty, with bright pink flowers, delicately arranged leaves, and tiny thorns on its stem. She has observed its behaviors, such as leaf movements in response to sunlight and its orientation toward the sun.
In the exhibition, Kanokwan presents photographs of the plant throughout the day, along with an installation that invites viewers to explore the plant in new ways. Through various techniques Photo Printed on lenticular, ceramic plate representing the soil it grows in, wood table and a filpbook reflecting the Mimosa's movements.
The works create a dialogue on nature, fragility, and the existence of small life forms, encouraging viewers to explore the complexities within the simplicity of the Mimosa. The exhibition offers a chance to experience fleeting moments of movement that reflect the beauty of nature amid the fast pace of life.
