Kanokwan Sutthang
Born in 1997 in Bangkok
Kanokwan is interested in the small natural elements around her, particularly short-lived plants such as rice and weeds. She explores the cultural contexts and stories connected to her life through these subjects. Her work focuses on the impact of foreign elements that infiltrate the boundary between nature and human life, .while revealing their unseen or unacknowledged stories. She employs various techniques, including painting, object installation, and site-specific research, with the aim of highlighting the existence and relationships of these small things.
Recent projects include Asaññakāya, Phra Sri Ratana Maha Dhatu Temple (2025–6); Art Jakarta 2025; Merely Encountering the Evident, HOP PHOTO GALLERY (2025); Hallucination, Silpakorn University Art Centre (2024); Early Years Project 7: A change In the paradigm, Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (2024) in which she was a grant recipient. She is a graduate of Silpakorn University’s Faculty of Painting, Sculpture and Graphic Arts.
